The Public Safety Recruit and Promotional Candidate Screening Programs

The most widely used programs of IFP are its RECRUIT and PROMOTIONAL CANDIDATE SCREENING PROGRAMS. These are similar in nature, but differ in specifics. All IFP examinations meet state and federal requirements and follow guidelines of the I.A.C.P.

What Is Done

IFP uses a modified assessment center approach. Each program involves a specially designed battery of tests followed by an intensive individual interview. Situational tests are also used. This can take between four and six hours. Testing relates to the main requirements of the positions involved, including motivation, intelligence, team compatibility, endurance, social judgement, stress tolerance, self control and emotional stability. Promotional candidates are additionally evaluated for supervisory potential, ability to analyze the management role, leadership and attitudes towards directing and disciplining former peers. The intensive personal interview lasts from one half hour to one hour. Preliminary evidence of serious problems may be pursued with additional testing at nominal added cost.

Scheduling

Candidates are examined at the offices of IFP, Inc., or for large groups, at the department's facilities. Interviews are entirely individual. Appointments may be easily arranged by phoning (8O0) 690-TEST. To insure timely service consistent with hiring deadlines, please schedule candidates at the earliest possible dates and allow two weeks after examination for reports to be rendered. Testing may be scheduled at locations other than IFP headquarters by special arrangement. Details and written proposals for on-site examinations are available on request. Custom designed examinations are available to meet special needs and budgetary concerns.

Reports

Unless otherwise requested, an individual, comprehensive report of findings is given for each candidate. These are written in plain English and make specific, clear recommendations about hiring and special training needs, if any. An IFP report becomes a valuable asset to an individual's personnel file if appointed, and a strong basis for disputing an appeal if a candidate is rejected according to our recommendations. IFP reports have been very favorably received by governmental and regulatory bodies, including Civil Service Commissions. Reports are generally rendered within ten days of an examination, although verbal reports may be obtained at an earlier time.

Fees

IFP fees are among the lowest for fully compliant, 'best practices' public safety services nationwide. This ensures maximum protection from litigation to the contracting agency.
